The Afghan-Hound is a large dog with a slim waist and long legs. Their hip bone protrusion is a typical physical characteristic regardless of the nutritional status of the dog. They have a long, soft coat with various colors in tan, black, blue, cream, red, white, and silver. The Afghan-Hound sheds minimally but does require daily brushing.

The Afghan-Hound is known for its independent, aristocratic, and dignified character. Adult supervision is recommended when playing with children and other dogs.
