Appearance & Grooming

The Australian Terrier is a small dog. They have a rough and dense double coat in blue, tan, sandy, and red. The Australian Terrier sheds infrequently, but still benefits from regular brushing.

Behavior & Disposition

The Australian Terrier is loyal, courageous, alert, intelligent, spirited, and affectionate. They tend to play well with children. However adult supervision is recommended when playing with other dogs.

Activity Level

The Australian Terrier has a high activity level, but it is still easy for the breed to become overweight. The Australian Terrier should be carefully monitored for calorie consumption.

Due to their stubborn nature, consistent training with Australian Terriers is recommended. Positive reinforcement training with treats, toys, and compliments is usually effective. Short training sessions are recommended to avoid boredom.
